I started my training as a graduate student at the University of Southern California and have been teaching Dux Ryu Ninjitsu (DRN) for over 17 years there. I also have the title Shidoshi, the highest honor within the system below Hanshi Frank Dux, as well as being the next Soke when Hanshi Dux retires. Over the years, I have studied with many other martial art systems, including Brazilian jujitsu, traditional Jujitsu, Aikido, Kenjitsu, and Judo, but I feel that DRN is the most comprehensive and effective system.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and have chosen that as the location for my school. Outside of martial arts, I have a Ph.D. in engineering from UCLA and am a licensed civil engineer. I have taught at both UCLA and Berkeley. I am also a PADI SCUBA diving IDC Staff Instructor, as well as a CPR/1st Aid instructor.
